In Japan, Cherry Blossoms symbolize clouds due to their nature of blooming en masse. They are also an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life. Japan gave 3,020 cherry blossom trees as a gift to the US in 1912 to celebrate our growing friendship. These trees line the shore of the Tidal Basin in Washington, DC. The gift was renewed in 1965 with another 3,800 trees. Cherry Blossom Festivals are celebrated throughout the United States and around the world.
Materials: The Cherry Blossom brooch is cast in oxidised bronze and accented with white keshi pearls and pale pink freshwater pearls.
